The “Admiral Vasile Urseanu” Observatory in Bucharest is a museum institution meant to make astronomy better known among children and adults alike. Here, people can use a telescope to watch the most beautiful wonders in the sky.

Starting with October 2014 you can sign up for astronomical observations at Curtea Veche Palace (near Hanul lui Manuc). The observations will be held only if the sky is clear so be sure to take that into consideration. Daytime observations are held on Wednesdays and Sundays between 11.00 and 14.00 and nighttime observations are held on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, starting with 18.30. The price for one ticket is 5 lei.

The Observatory is also opened to the public and is available without making an appointment. For larger groups however it is recommended you call ahead, just to make sure everything goes smoothly  The access is permitted by ticket only and the guide is included in the ticket price. The guide also speaks English so rest assured! And in case you want to take pictures while you’re there, it would cost you an extra 15 lei.
